As the thunder roared
She sat near the window, reading
The veil of rain surrounded her,
As her glasses fogged up from the steam of her coffee
As she felt herself getting pulled away from reality
Any sign of life outside her window didn’t matter
Not the sound of cars, nor the shining lights from the city
Nothing would pry her from the pages filled with life,
Her fingertips gently flipping the pages
As the world outside trembled
But nothing could pry her from the pages
For she lived through the stories of others.
