KAREN LIN | GENERAL WRITER
has been a member of the Asian Articles since July 2020. She is currently a junior in high school from California. Aside from writing for the Asian Articles, Karen is a part of several clubs in her school, and in her free time, she likes to listen to music and watch Netflix.
MONU MALIK | GENERAL EDITOR
has joined The Asian Articles team since late July 2020 as a Pakistani to provide representation for South Asians. She advocates for a change in the Asian community to eradicate the stigma revolving around mental illnesses. Although Monu has her career set as a licensed makeup artist/body painter, she is studying Psychology in Miami, FL to eventually become an Occupational Therapist, as well.
The passion for mental health began rising in high school projects for HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America), in which she achieved 2nd placed in State competition. This has led to her attending NAMI on campus meetings to continue spreading awareness, as well as creating her own Instagram page solely for educating her audience and encouraging self love. As for hobbies, Monu enjoys spending time with herself journaling, painting, creating stickers for her online shop, and playing Minecraft.
PAAYAL KHABIYA | GENERAL WRITER
is a high school student who has lived in America since a very young age. As she is growing into the individual she is today, she feels that Asian representation in America has been very modernized and does not fit the description of what someone from that part of Asia would perceive it to be like. She hopes to be able to change that! Aside from her passions in learning, she also enjoys reading, drawing, and teaching in her spare time!

has been a member of the Asian Articles since August 2020 and is a current junior in Greenville, South Carolina. She is a Bangladeshi-American Muslim and hopes to aid representation for not only her communities but of other marginalized groups in the media. Apart from editing for The Asian Articles, Humyra is an avid member of her school’s Academic Team and founder of a club promoting volunteering and social activism. She can also be found phone-banking, complaining about school, or doodling. Her current favorite artists are SZA and BTS.

is a Chinese American high school senior from the Bay Area who's interested in Asian culture, particularly entertainment and representation. In addition to being the Humor editor Editor-in-Chief of her high school's newspaper, The Voice, she also runs her own sticker shop on Etsy, spookystickershop. Her hobbies include attempting difficult piano songs, doodling, and watching anime (current favorites: Haikyuu!! and Love is War). Her favorite part of journalism is meeting and connecting with new people.

is an Indian Muslim from New Delhi, India. From a very young age, she knew that the world she belongs to needs revolutions and she yearns to become a part of it. Having faced colorism, sexism, and islamophobia from early on in life, Areen is determined to use her words to make an impact and hopefully create a positive change for everyone, so that no young girl ever had to feel the way she did.

She is interested in business and politics and hope to pursue a double degree in political science and business administration at college. is a 15-year-old sophomore that's from the Philippines but is now currently residing in the Bay Area (California). She is passionate about issues of racism and discrimination. is a sophomore writer from the United States. With everything occurring in society today, she aspires to make an impact on the world through her writing. Growing up, Anila never had many role models that shared the same culture as her, and this ultimately inspired her to influence change. She wants to bring light to important situations involving people of her ethnicity to help make the world a better place.

never really felt like she belonged anywhere mainly because she could not really identify with a specific group or culture. She felt more like a nomad or a Bedouin because she couldn't really give a solid answer for what she thought home was. This is still true, but she's learned to accept it after finding bits and pieces of herself in different cultures and people. While finding a place to belong is extremely important, she feels that it's a lot more fun to be a part of everything and nothing all at the same time. It makes life a little more interesting and it makes it easier to be friends with so many different kinds of people.

a South Korean living in Singapore, is an NUS High School graduate, Class of 2020. Having faced tough education systems and parents, his interest in the learning sciences — once a tool to maintain grades — has now expanded into cognitive psychology and habit sciences. Yongbeom's interests include creative writing and occasionally posts short stories online, as well as in mental health and public speaking. He also loves bringing ideas from zero to one, talking to and empowering others, as well as bringing individuals, communities and entities together for initiatives. He is now a junior research assistant at the Department of Chemistry, NUS, working on chemical education, and occasionally plays competitive Tetris in his free time.
